My story

👋 Hey there, I’m Bethany, and I’m the longarm quilter behind Top to Quilt. In 2010, my Mom (that’s her in the pink) taught me how to make a Turning Twenty quilt. I made it with bright colorful batiks (as if there’s any other kind) and absolutely loved it! I loved the entire process — picking out the fabric, learning the speed of the machine, maintaining a 1/4” seam allowance 😵‍💫, cutting, pressing, and of course sewing pieces together. Then that final press once you complete your first block! Oooh that awesome “I did it!” feeling. I remember being at Mom & Dad’s cottage in Oscoda, MI, laying out all of my blocks and rearranging them for hours!… We all know how that goes! 😆 “Put this one there and move that one over there, but now you have two of those fabrics touching.” LOL

After creating so many quilts, I thought — what else? So, in 2019, I purchased my Gammill Statler computerized longarm machine with the support of my Mom and Dad ❤️. This pic was taken on delivery day and we couldn’t wait to start quilting!

I first started longarming my own quilts and my Mom’s. After completing several quilts and gaining full confidence in my abilities, I started offering my services to other piecers and block builders. I’m located in Richmond, Michigan, and while most of my quilters are in the Southeast Michigan area, I also accept shipped quilts nationwide.

I am so thankful for God’s blessings and grateful for the many talented creators who trust me with their beautiful projects! I would love to work with you too! 🫶
